ABOUT ABOUT

Efficient, low cost connection to energy networks and competitive energy costs are critical to many Black Country businesses. This event includes presentations on ways businesses can reduce their energy bills through energy efficiency; funding available for energy efficiency investments, and a new mechanism the LEP is developing to make connections to energy networks faster and more efficient for developers and businesses looking to expand.

This event is particularly aimed and manufacturing businesses where energy costs are significant to the bottom line, such as most metalworking and many leisure and hospitality businesses.  Attendees will gain insights into ways to reduce energy costs and make their businesses more competitive.

Energy costs in the Black Country are up to 41% higher than for equivalent businesses in Germany.  Reducing energy costs will enhance regional competitiveness and increase GVA by up to £1bn.

The event will start with a buffet lunch followed by 15 minute presentations from each of the following speakers:

  • John Kyffin-Hughes, Aston University – Grants and Energy Efficiency Advice for Black Country SMEs
  • Liam Conway, CEC Ltd (Official Black Country Chamber Energy Partner) – Business Energy Costs – How to ensure you’re getting good procurement advice
  • Matthew Rhodes, BCLEP – Reducing Electricity Network Connection Costs for Industry and Developers in the Black Country
